Victim of a heart attack, the 65 year-old iraqi-born British architect Zaha Hadid, died today in Miami.

Zaha Hadid, Pritzker Prize winner in 2004 was the designer of, among many other prestigious works, the Zorrotzaurre Master Plan, both the 2004 original version and the review and up-date of 2007 which included the opening up of the Deusto canal to turn the Zorrotzaurre peninsula into an island.

Her talent and creativity have been fundamental in the design of an integral and sustainable plan that converts a degraded part of Bilbao into a new quarter full of economic and social development possibilities.
